A European seminar on "The impact of cities on the quantity and quality of their underlying groundwater" will be held in Ispra, Italy, on 26 February 1998. The seminar, organized by the Environment Institute, is part of the Joint Research Centre's "Blue Seminars" on aquatic processes and water technology.

The seminar, which will be led by David Lerner of the University of Sheffield, UK, will examine the various factors influencing both the quantity and quality of underlying groundwater in cities. The talk will discuss the results of research carried out in Birmingham, Coventry and Nottingham (UK), using Nottingham as a specific case study.
