International Conference on Research Infrastructures – ICRI 2024

 

Expected outcomes: Projects are expected to contribute to all the following outcomes:

  • Contribution to address global challenges with a global dimension;
  • Increased capacity of the EU to respond, in cooperation with international players, to emerging challenges at global level;
  • Development of further cooperation with ongoing key international partners for research infrastructures;
  • Enhanced role of the Union in international organisations and multilateral fora;
  • Progress towards the development of global research infrastructures.

Expected Impact: Proposals should set out a credible pathway to contributing to several of the expected impacts of Destination INFRADEV.

Scope:

The International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI) is organised alternatively in EU and in a Third Country, in cooperation with the European Commission. The next ICRI Conference is planned in the second semester 2024 in Australia.

ICRI 2024 will contribute to the objectives of the INFRADEV destination. The specific objectives of the conference include:

(1) to provide an international forum for the discussion on the development of global research infrastructures, in particular, on issues of common interest such as data sharing, digitisation of RIs, common standards, transnational access, the long-term sustainability of research infrastructures and their innovation potential;

(2) to facilitate dialogue and strategic collaboration between European research infrastructures and their International counterparts;

(3) to address the role of international RI collaboration in tackling global challenges and fostering the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals;

(4) to discuss the progress of implementation of the Brno Declaration on Fostering a Global Ecosystem of Research Infrastructures.

This grant will be awarded without a call for proposals according to Article 195(e) of the Financial Regulation and Article 24(3)(b) of the Horizon Europe Regulation to the legal entities identified below, as they have been designated by the country hosting this event organised in cooperation with the Commission.

The conditions are described in General Annex B. The following exceptions apply:

Legal entities established in non-associated third countries may exceptionally participate in this Coordination and support action as beneficiaries (or affiliated entities).

Due to the scope of this topic, legal entities established in non-associated third countries are exceptionally eligible for Union funding.

Specific conditions

Procedure: The evaluation committee will be fully composed of representatives of EU institutions.
