First user experiment with corrected hard X-ray nanobeam

Nanofocusing units with aberration correction and the possibility for wavefront manipulation at PETRA III beamlines P02 and P06 over a wide X-ray energy range from 8 keV up to 35 keV will be accessible to users with suitable proposals. Wavefront metrology to align and control the experiment will be available to users (DESY). Fixed curvature focusing mirror systems will be combined with phase modifying optics in order to tailor flexibly the beam focus size in the hard X-ray regime (ESRF).

Fabrication of hard X-ray aberration correctors

Wavefront sensing metrology via speckle tracking grating interferometry or ptychography of the focused beam after selected CRL setups and KB systems will allow the simulation and modelling of phase correcting plates adapted for these focusing systems Such specified plates shall than be fabricated in diamond or quartz using laser ablation of FIB machining as well as via 3D printing using polymers
