INTERNATIONAL RESOURCE PANEL (IRP) SECRETARIAT

Project description

A platform for efficient resource use

The European Commission and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) launched the International Resource Panel (IRP) in 2007 to provide policymakers with scientific knowledge on sustainable resource management. The EU co-funded IRP project will build a roadmap to define a safe operating space and project scenarios for future resource use. Moreover, it will work on better understanding how to prevent unintended negative consequences from resource use on societies. IRP is a science-policy interface serving as a platform for dialogue between eminent scientists and policymakers around the world. It will publish independent, coherent and authoritative scientific assessments to inform decision-making, conduct capacity-building courses and develop appropriate supporting tools.
