Celebrating 20 years of ESFRI
The European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) celebrated its 20th anniversary in March 2022. Throughout the two decades, it has strategically enhanced European excellence in cutting-edge work across the research domains. The EU-funded BRIDGE project was tasked to organise the 20th Anniversary ESFRI Conference in France, under the auspices of the French Presidency of the Council of the EU, on 25 March 2022. The event aimed to valorise the impact of ESFRI on the European research and innovation system over 20 years, and to reinforce its role in the renewed European Research Area. It also explored the drivers behind the development of the rich European research infrastructure landscape.
Objective
The project BRIDGE (Broaden Research Infrastructures – Deepen the Geography of Europe ) is aiming at organizing the celebrating of the the 20 years of ESFRI through a 20 Years Anniversary ESFRI Cconference. The Cconference will take place in France, under the aupices of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, on March 25th, 2022. The heardquarters of the French Academy of Science, at Institut de France, 23 quai de Conti, 75006 Paris, will be the main venue for this event. The objectives of the project are the following:
• Valorisation of the impact of ESFRI on European R&I system over the 20 years
• Reinforcement of the role of ESFRI and the European RIs in the renewed ERA
• Increased awareness of the research and innovation actors of the opportunities provided by European RIs
