Holistic heat energy management on ships by implementing innovative dynamic calculation models towards maximum waste heat capture and energy efficiency

Livrables

Integration risk analysis

Integration risk assessment evaluates possibility of economical, scheduling, operational and budgetary risks and probability what may arise during Integration of the selected system modifications. After risk and probability has been identified a countermeasure is proposed to reduce any surprises what might affect the project planned outcomes. Detailed report for the assumptions, risk matrix and results is delivered.

Impact study

Current project is considering existing ship retrofit. Retrofit projects on cruise ships are usually done during ship operation. Therefore, feasibility study should be made to confirm modifications proposed to fulfil calculated and selected heat energy system arrangement. It will describe the physical modifications need to be made, how it will affect ship normal operations and give detailed budget estimation required for the ship.

Prototype description and principles

It will show the scope of exact equipment and intention to be implemented on the ship. Downscaled system equipment and components are described. Deliverables are reports, documents and drawings with data described.

Project website

The project-specific website that will be set up will relate the project’s results and act as an information depository that will be accessible to the public and contribute to communicating the project results. The website will also demonstrate the main outcomes of the project, e.g. the heat recovery optimization tool.

Existing ship efficiency

By means of the final developed simulation model, the ship energy efficiency is calculated with respect to its initial system layout (case study, D1.4) and to the considered operating and weather conditions (D1.4 and D1.5). The deliverable reports results about the modelled and simulated ship energy behaviour and efficiency.
