Project description
Exploring the links between integrity, societal integration, and trust in science
What is the link between integrity, societal integration in research and trust in research? What is the role of institutions in fostering a research climate that is conducive to societal trust in science? It is commonly assumed that more integration of relevant societal stakeholders in all phases of the research cycle, as well as more responsible research practices naturally lead to public trust in research. The EU-funded POIESIS project explores these assumptions and their underlying mechanisms. It will shed light on the links between research practices and public perceptions thereof. It thereby addresses the questions of whether and how research integrity and the integration of society in research can act as vehicles for responsible knowledge creation.
