Periodic Reporting for period 1 - SURE 5.0 (Supporting the smes sUstainaibility and REsilience transition towards industry 5.0 in the mobility, transport & automotive, aerospace and electronics European ecosystems)
Periodo di rendicontazione: 2022-06-01 al 2023-11-30
Human-centricity
Employees’ skills are at the core of the industrial transition. Increased adoption of advanced technologies requires new skills and affects workers’ safety, working conditions, satisfaction and physical & mental well-being. As production means evolving towards an increased digitalisation, industry employees, in particular operators may perceive their role changed or even threatened. Industry 4.0 tries to upgrade workers' skills to enable them to use these tools. Yet, not all workers are willing (or even able) to invest time in learning new skills. Instead, I5.0 recommends starting with workers' skills & then adapt the tools
Sustainability
The value chains in SURE5.0’s ecosystems depend on the use of material resources that can’t be treated as waste & must be oriented towards end-of-cycle regeneration. It requires the introduction of new skills & processes that can be more efficiently adopted via advanced technologies. SURE5.0 focuses on the advanced technologies enabling the transition from a linear to a circular ecosystem. It requires enveloping innovative business models & processes that re-use, re-purpose & recycle natural resources, reduce waste & foster environmental sustainability
Resilience
The Covid-19 pandemic showed how fragile value chains are. Securing them implies maintaining strong control at all levels: from the supply of raw materials, through the security of production sites, to the technical skills required to produce the final products. Support is provided to the selected SMEs for an easier adoption of advanced technologies such as adaptable production capacity, reliable forecasts, or flexible business processes
Engagement
A self-assessment tool has been massively disseminated among SMEs. It was designed to be quick and easy to fill in & provides automatic and basic information on measures to implement the Industry 5.0. The tool has the final objective of raising awareness about Industry 5.0 and its benefits. It is disseminated on the project website. 166 companies finalized their self-assessment as of now, that are coming from more than 20 EU countries and 3 non-EU countries
Assessment & services
Two Acceleration Programmes (with 2 phases) were launched and targeted SMEs having filled the self-assessment. SMEs are offered a full assessment to give them concrete recommendations & 4 types of services: Uptake of advanced technologies, Training programme for the I5.0 transition, Investment readiness support & Support on social innovation and human centricity. The goal is to offer SMEs a deeper grasp of I5.0 and give them keys to fulfil the transition. The first call was open until 01/03/2023 and the second 31/10/2023. At the end, 37 applications were finalized coming from 18 EU countries. On those 37, 17 were selected to participate in Phase 1 of Acceleration Programme 1. For the second call, 24 SMEs were evaluated. The results will be disseminated during 12/2023
Funding I5.0 transition
Following Phase 1, selected SMEs can apply for Phase 2 which allow them to get access to a financial support of €50 000. The funding is a lump sum and allows SMEs to implement recommendations received during Phase 1. Final goal is to foster successful transitions towards I5.0 principles. Acceleration Programme 1 Phase 2 selections were made, 16 out of 17 possible SMEs participated. All of them were selected for Phase 2 which was launched early 12/2023
SURE5.0 also wants to foster an EU network of I5.0. The project gathers EU initiatives & enterprises that deal with various thematic related to I5.0 and proposes networking activities that go from exchange of good practices to common webinars & events. The Community of Practice Alliance was launched in 03/2023, which is a LinkedIn community created by the consortium members. The goal is to create a link between all parties involved in the three ecosystems of SURE5.0 exchange good practices & news. Webinars were also hosted, starting with the introduction to I5.0 on 21/03/2023 with 2 more after. Finally, a matchmaking event is being organised between the beneficiaries and the service providers selected to be part of the Catalogue of Service Providers of SURE5.0

These sessions are divided into 3 themes: introduction to Industry 5.0 session, technical training sessions and innovative training sessions. Partners involved are creating their own training session all gathered on a common tool. A certificate of participation will be given to all participants at the end
Networking
A closed group called 'Community of Practice Alliance' was created on LinkedIn at the beginning of the project that allows people interested in Industry 5.0 to gather and exchange information. AV, EITM and SAC are in charge of it. At the moment, 194 people are part of this group and publications are made at the very least bi-weekly
Finally, a catalogue of service providers was created that allows SURE5.0 beneficiaries to have access to solutions and help for their transition
