Les risques sanitaires posés par les agents pathogènes côtiers sont amplifiés par le changement climatique
Rassemblant un consortium de biologistes, de climatologues, d’économistes, d’épidémiologistes et de spécialistes de la santé publique, le projet BlueAdapt, financé par l’UE, mènera des études de cas et démontrera comment les concepts «Une seule santé» («One Health») et «Santé publique écologique» («Ecological Public Health») peuvent susciter une mobilisation et identifier les obstacles potentiels à l’adaptation. Le balayage horizontal et la modélisation climatique de réduction d’échelle alimenteront des expériences en laboratoire et des simulations de zones côtières afin d’étudier la manière dont le changement climatique, en interaction avec d’autres changements environnementaux, peut influencer l’état de certains agents pathogènes microbiens préoccupants sur le plan de la santé publique dans les eaux côtières. Le projet concevra des outils visant à évaluer l’incidence des réponses politiques et partagera les résultats avec les décideurs politiques et le grand public. Il élaborera un cadre conceptuel pour l’initiative «Une seule santé» afin de susciter une plus grande participation sur la nature complexe de cette question.
Objectif
BlueAdapt brings together an interdisciplinary team of biologists, climate scientists, economists, epidemiologists and public health experts to investigate and quantify the future health risks associated with selected coastal pathogens. BlueAdapt will provide tools to assess the impacts of policy responses and communicate the results to a wide audience, including both policymakers and the public. A conceptual framework will be developed around existing models of One Health and Ecological Public Health, to help wider engagement with the complex nature of the issue. Horizons scanning and downscaled climate modelling will feed into lab based experiments and the development of simulations around how changes in climate variables, interacting with other environmental change, may influence the state of selected microbial pathogens of public health concern in coastal waters. Case studies will illustrate how One Health and Ecological Public Health concepts can be used to generate action and identify potential barriers to adaptation. Health impact assessment and cost-benefit analysis will inform appropriate action. BlueAdapt Innovation Slams and policy workshops will help deliver wider impact from the project including new-to-firm and new-to-market products and services.
