Leistungen

Guidelines for connectivity conservation and planning in Europe with supporting web-based inventory and databases (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

This guidelines will be the product of tasks 6.1 and 6.2In 6.1 we will co-design a framework for multi-scale connectivity assessment and planning together with stakeholders from MS administrations, EU policy bodies and other relevant EU programs and platforms: LIFE projects, EuropaBON, KCBD, EEA, etc. This framework will be published in the connectivity guidelines together with the output of task 6.2 which include a synthesis report of the input data, statistical models and predictions of species dispersal kernels using agent-based models.

Review and synthesis of best practices in governance and land-use policies to implement TEN-N (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

We will review and synthesize information on existing land-use planning and land management policy and guidance for GI management across countries and administrative levels. We will then compile best practices which will be made available as a report in English and a selected number of languages for the 6 case studies

Factsheets on public, private, and blended financial support options for TEN-N and recommendations for each case study (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

These fact-sheets will be the result of a review and synthesis of the existing and emerging public and private financial mechanisms and funding opportunities, with a dedicated section “how to”, to help practitioners understanding the financial landscape and identify the best funding opportunities

Scenario framework for TEN-N, translation of NFF storylines into indicators and scenario settings (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

The report will document the methods for the production of scenarios and the storylines of these scenarios using the IPBES Nature Futures Framework.

Report on the stakeholder analysis including evaluation of engagement, training needs, and capacity building (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

We will develop the preliminary stakeholder analysis, to familiarise all actors, with the project’s purpose and outcomes, identify their needs, and more thoroughly map the engagement process. This will be done within the first 6 months of the project through an in-person structured and facilitated conversational process between work package teams and key stakeholders in small groups. Such a large scale, but intensive activity will enable information to be captured efficiently at an early juncture in the project, also helping to identify and address any gaps in the stakeholder representation early in the process. The stakeholder analysis will be concluded with an evaluation of engagement and capacity building activities in month 22.

Report and data on the biodiversity, protected areas and environmental and socio-economic data available for the project. Including data gap analysis (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

One dataset will include all distribution data collected for terrestrial species groups (plants, vertebrates, invertebrates). An additional dataset will feature vegetation type data. We will also inventorize and harmonize trait data. A fifth daset wil include all environmental and socio-economic spatial variables, including earth observation (land cover at 100-m resolution) and climate data from Copernicus (bioclimatic indicators), soil data, land-use and other socio-economic variables (distance to cities, infrastructure, human population density, etc) from various sources (e.g. EEA, SoilGrids). The report instead will include the results of our investigation of gaps in knowledge in biodiversity data for Europe to provide measures of uncertainty, at the same time, highlighting (geographically and thematically) the areas/habitats/bioregions with monitoring and integration needs.

Report on network problem formulations, targets and preferences, including guidance and data on targets and optimal TEN-N design criteria (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

This deliverable is the output of task 7.1 and 7.2This include methods for and estimate of quantitative and qualitative targets for species, habitats and their services as well as objective functions, constraints and design criteria for maximizing coherence, adequacy and resilience of conservation networks

Current and future natural capital and ES (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

We will release model code and data from task 4.2.This entails developing novel quantitative models of the demand for natural capital and ES in both urban and non-urban areas. ES demand will be modelled based on policy requirements and people’s socio-economic characteristics indicative of i) the amount of consumption (of provisioning services), ii) the need for risk prevention (of regulating services), and iii) individuals’ needs for well-being and preferences. The selection of ES to be modelled will be made in consultation with key stakeholders (T1.1) and aligned to the narrative scenarios (T5.1). Current and future ES demand will serve as input for establishing ES targets and benefit functions in the network design (T7.1).

Spatial data for land-use and climate scenarios including TEN-N options and constraints (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

This deliverable is the product of task 5.2We will run high-resolution (1km) spatial land-use models that quantify potential land-use change and land management changes consistent with developed storylines (T5.1). The European spatial land-use model (CLUMondo) will be parametrized using economic modelling results and European SSP scenarios as input (see 1.2.3). We will assess contextual conditions of land-use, helping to ensure that the TEN-N is efficient and resilient in both the short to mid-term (2030-2040) and the long term (2050-2070) time scales.

Spatial opportunities and constraints for green infrastructure network design (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

The datasets will include spatially explicit data representative of socio-economic and land-use opportunities and constraints for creating or modifying GI. This includes all protected areas, relevant remotely sensed variables (from Copernicus) and proxies of farmland management intensity, which allows to delineate potential high nature value as well as high-intensity farmlands (which are unlikely to be taken out of production). We will also map direct and indirect threats to biodiversity (e.g., hunting pressure) and proxies for opportunity costs, such as land value, and human population density.

Final species and habitat distributions for current and future state (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

The datasets will be the final deliverable of task 3.3 and will include the following:Species distribution under present and future environmental conditions. Present and future potential distirbution of EUNIS habitat classes, but also primary and old-growth forests

NaturaConnect Moodle with all capacity building and training materials (öffnet in neuem Fenster)

All capacity building sessions, material and media will be housed in an online NaturaConnect Moodle which will host online tutorials, demo recording, presentations. The Moodle will complement live and interactive training sections, delivered online or in-person.
