Hybrid Electrochemically-paired Light Irradiated Organic Synthesis

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - HELIOS (Hybrid Electrochemically-paired Light Irradiated Organic Synthesis)

Periodo di rendicontazione: 2023-11-01 al 2026-04-30

The overall objectives of project Hybrid Electrochemically-paired Light Irradiated Organic Synthesis (HELIOS) were to:
i) harness electrical and light energy to rapidly convert cheap, abundant chemical feedstocks to value-added complex molecules and ii) improve the sustainability and selectivity of synthetic PEC and EC processes.
Project HELIOS would open an entirely new dimension of chemical reactivity that will revolutionize the way chemists use redox to synthesize molecules.

However, project HELIOS was terminated early due to the P.I. accepting an offer of an appointment at a University in the U.K. and the requirement to terminate the ERC StG to apply for the UKRI guarantee funding. Therefore, the P.I.'s activities were limited to literature research and interviewing researchers. No direct costs were incurred and no experimental results were generated to report.

The P.I. will deliver project HELIOS at the new host institution in the U.K.
Project HELIOS was terminated early due to the P.I. accepting an offer of an appointment at a University in the U.K. and the requirement to terminate the ERC StG to apply for the UKRI guarantee funding. Therefore, the P.I.'s activities were limited to literature research for the individual work programmes and interviewing researchers. No direct costs were incurred and no experimental results were generated to report.

Since no experimental results were generated, it is not possible to comment on potential impacts and key needs.
