Periodic Reporting for period 2 - WASABI (White-label shop for digital intelligent assistance and human-AI collaboration in manufacturing)

Berichtszeitraum: 2024-09-01 bis 2026-02-28

Zusammenfassung vom Kontext und den Gesamtzielen des Projekts

In today's fast-paced business landscape, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) face a growing challenge: harnessing the power of cutting-edge software tools while ensuring their workforce can navigate them effectively.

WASABI focuses on digital intelligent assistance solutions, based on human-AI collaboration, and applied to the manufacturing domain. The WASABI solution increases the cognitive abilities of workers and accelerates the acquisition and transfer of knowledge, through Natural Language Processing (NLP) system, for the upskilling of the existing workforce, meantime securing job positions

WASABI challenge is related to SMEs and mid-caps manufacturers in Europe that need to meet sustainability goals. Producing components for complex products, or often operating in emerging specialty equipment markets, they must be quite careful about spending their resources on activities with uncertain costs or outcomes.

WASABI provides SMEs with the tools and knowledge to improve workers capacities and performance, with advanced user interfaces for continuous augmented hybrid-decision-making. Such interfaces assist employees in interacting with complex software, effectively reducing its skill floor. In consequence, humans will find using software easier and be more open to applying it effectively at work. WASABI’s advanced interfaces covers, for instance, situation analysis, intervention identification, action planning and execution, and impact monitoring and mitigation.

The project makes digital intelligence assistance and conversational artificial intelligence solutions become standard practices, accessible, affordable, and manageable even for small companies. WASABI allows European SMEs to achieve sustainability principles and technological and operational innovation capacity, such as to become renewed and cutting-edge, and reach leadership goals and market competitiveness.

Arbeit, die ab Beginn des Projekts bis zum Ende des durch den Bericht erfassten Berichtszeitraums geleistet wurde, und die wichtigsten bis dahin erzielten Ergebnisse

By month 36, WASABI activities are progressing in line with the objectives of the project.

Objective 1: Reduce the number of sustainability incidents in manufacturing. (Sustainability)
• The Waste Inspector and the Assisted Quality Assurance (AQA) Digital Intelligent Assistants (DIAs) are delivered.

Objective 2: Reduce the training times for workers in manufacturing. (Agility & Resilience)
• The On-boarding DIA is delivered.
• The learning materials have been successfully developed and integrated into a digital learning platform. The training currently comprises the modules AI Basics, AI Function, AI Data Security, AI Evaluation, AI Possibilities, and AI Prompting.

Objective 3: Increase the uptake of intelligent digital assistance technology. (Adoption)
• The WASABI White Label Shop is delivered.
• The Skill-interoperability demonstrator is developed.

Objective 4: Make digital assistance technologies and related-services available to innovation infrastructures. (Innovation capacity)
• The DIH assistance technology register is available and DIHs/EDIHs will register and document their digital assistants’ services.
• The Digital assistance and AI Law webinars providing an overview about Europe’s legal framework regarding AI-related contract law and the emerging trustworthy AI legislation have been organised.

Objective 5: Overcome barriers and scepticism about intelligent digital assistance in industry. (Leadership)
• The AI-focused change management process is progressing timely.

In addition, on top of the 8 Digital Intelligent Assistants developed within the project, the WASABI community has grown with 22 experiments developing and using Digital Intelligent Assistants. The experiments joined the project through two open calls.
