INNO-MOB emerges against the backdrop of a rapidly transforming mobility sector, marked by escalating environmental concerns, urbanization pressures, and the imperative for sustainable transport solutions. The project aims to leverage opportunities that initiatives and networks offer to innovative and dynamic businesses within an inclusive mobility innovation European ecosystem. It seeks to utilize the emerging sustainable mobility market to examine these opportunities and develop support mechanisms for companies to bring innovations to market swiftly. Primary Objectives of the project include (a) identifying and mapping the needs of stakeholders within the mobility sector (b) creating a comprehensive Mobility Innovation Network (MIN) platform that facilitates collaboration, knowledge sharing, and access to resources among mobility stakeholders, and (c) enhancing the visibility and accessibility of innovative mobility solutions, thereby accelerating their market uptake.
INNO-MOB is designed to serve as a catalyst for the deployment of innovative mobility solutions. It aims to significantly reduce ecosystem fragmentation, enabling a more coordinated approach to innovation and a smoother pathway from ideation to market. By leveraging the collective expertise and resources of seven partner institutions across Europe, along with an extended network of clusters and initiatives, the project promises to establish an ecosystem that fosters collaboration among startups, SMEs, public authorities, and research institutions, exchange of best practices, and the development of cutting-edge technologies and services that are pivotal to the future of mobility and aligned with stakeholder needs and societal goals.
INNO-MOB is designed to serve as a catalyst for the deployment of innovative mobility solutions. It aims to significantly reduce ecosystem fragmentation, enabling a more coordinated approach to innovation and a smoother pathway from ideation to market. By leveraging the collective expertise and resources of seven partner institutions across Europe, along with an extended network of clusters and initiatives, the project promises to establish an ecosystem that fosters collaboration among startups, SMEs, public authorities, and research institutions, exchange of best practices, and the development of cutting-edge technologies and services that are pivotal to the future of mobility and aligned with stakeholder needs and societal goals.
A major achievement of the INNO-MOB project was the successful execution of a comprehensive intelligence process to map service gaps in the European mobility innovation landscape. By combining quantitative methods and qualitative insights , the project identified key disconnects between the support services offered by existing networks and the actual needs of mobility innovators. This analysis, grounded in an adapted version of the Service Quality Model (Parasuraman et al., 1988), revealed five critical gaps, ranging from unmet expectations and unclear communication to limited ecosystem responsiveness, which provided the evidence base for designing targeted support mechanisms.
Building on these insights, INNO-MOB co-developed and launched the Collective Innovation Deployment Development Support Model (CIDDSM), a strategic framework designed to bridge the innovation divide between stronger and moderate-performing regions. Seven tailored support services were identified and refined to meet specific challenges faced by mobility SMEs. These services included tools for regulatory navigation, cross-border market entry, access to funding, ESG compliance, and more—creating a dynamic and inclusive suite of offerings that respond directly to the identified gaps.
These services were embedded in the newly developed Mobility Innovation Network (MIN) platform, an interactive digital ecosystem that supports collaboration, matchmaking, and capacity-building. At the heart of this platform lies the Stakeholder Chain Map Intelligent Platform (SCMIP), a robust engine that enables advanced stakeholder mapping, data visualization, and decision-making support. The platform has already attracted 558 stakeholders from 25 countries and facilitated over 60 collaborations and 17 new innovation projects, validating its value as a cross-European connector of mobility innovation actors.
The rollout of MIN and SCMIP was supported by an iterative development process involving coding, testing, and continuous user feedback. These platforms not only offer tools for collaboration and knowledge exchange but also integrate nudging mechanisms to encourage SME engagement and co-creation. Through MIN, users gain access to best practices, funding calls, and an open forum to voice needs and explore new opportunities, fostering a more cohesive, transparent, and responsive innovation environment.
