In light of the advancement of blockchain technology in the finance sector, particularly with the emergence of Decentralized Finance (DeFi), the team of Kasuria had set out to produce and procure high quality data about risk and performance for institutional investors that would like to diversify into the space. The focus of the product development was on data on yield generating activities by use of providing liquidity on decentralized lending platforms and into "liquidity pools" on decentralized exchanges. As a result the team has built "strategy composer" that enables the user to build, simulate and backtest investment strategies in DeFi. The task is highly complex because DeFi strategies are characterized by combining multiple, interacting smart contracts. While working on business development and product-market-fit, the team was exploring possible partnerships and identified a competitor with a highly complementary product offering. The objective of the project at hand was to explore and go into a close business cooperation under a licensing agreement with full product and tech integration and the potential outcome of a merger of the two companies.
