HORIZER

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - HORIZER (HORIZER)

Periodo di rendicontazione: 2023-07-01 al 2024-03-31

Amid growing environmental concerns and increasing emissions regulations, Horizer's initiative, supported by the Women TechEU program, targets a critical need for innovation in urban mobility. The project leverages cutting-edge solar technology to enhance the sustainability of existing transportation infrastructures, aiming to transform Europe's vehicle and energy markets. Over a nine-month period, Horizer is dedicated to testing and validating an Energy as a Service (EaaS) business model that integrates solar solutions with conventional vehicular systems.
The project's motivation arises from the urgent global call to reduce urban pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, challenges that are intensified by traditional internal combustion vehicles. By retrofitting these vehicles with solar technology, Horizer’s initiative strives to decrease dependence on fossil fuels and enhance energy efficiency.

The project is expected to deliver significant environmental, economic, and social benefits:
Environmental Impact: Implementation of Horizer’s solar solutions will directly contribute to reducing carbon emissions and other pollutants, supporting cleaner and more sustainable urban environments.
Economic Impact: The EaaS model is anticipated to reduce operational costs for vehicle owners through decreased fuel usage and maintenance expenses, while simultaneously stimulating the green technology sector and creating new economic opportunities.
Social Impact: By improving the accessibility and affordability of green technology, the project aims to enhance public transportation options, fostering greater social equity and community health.
These impacts align closely with the EU’s objectives for a resilient and sustainable economy, setting a precedent for scalable and adaptable green solutions across the continent.
Through the support of the Women TechEU, Horizer successfully met several key objectives:

Comprehensive Market Research: This research provided the deep insights needed to tailor our solutions to meet market demands effectively.
Validation of the Business Model: Our EaaS business model was validated through rigorous experimentation and market engagement, confirming its viability and scalability. This validation process was critical in ensuring that our business model was robust and could be effectively scaled across different markets.
Expansion of Network and Stakeholder Engagement: We achieved significant advancements in stakeholder engagement and network expansion.
The successful completion of the Horizer project marks a significant advancement in the integration of solar energy into urban mobility. The project's outcomes not only demonstrate the viability of solar solutions but also set the foundation for their broader adoption, promising a sustainable and economically viable future for urban transport systems. With targeted efforts in the identified areas for future needs, Horizer is well-positioned to lead the transition towards a greener and more sustainable urban environment.
