Digital Assembly 2023

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - DA23 (Digital Assembly 2023)

Reporting period: 2023-01-01 to 2023-09-30

The aim of the Swedish Presidency was to build a conference programme that addressed current EU initiatives, as well as ongoing debates on the conference theme, by providing an opportunity to showcase the status of and potential initiatives within the Digital Decade and the EU Cyber Security Strategy. The project aimed for a two-day agenda divided into sessions which all were devoted to discussing aspects of the theme in various panels and seminars.
The conference theme “a Digital, Open and Secure Europe” was considered very timely and relevant to the present moment. The programme featured in total 16 sessions, consisting of plenary sessions, breakout sessions and side-events – touching on some various topics in the field of digitalisation. The program also boasted an exhibition area. The Digital Assembly 2023 aimed to serve as an arena for dialogue on the possibilities to achieve a Digital, Open and Secure Europe. The number of participants present on the conference was approximately 400 people. The participants' involvement and engagement on site was exercised through various activities. In the Networking Village, which was an exhibition space, the general public was given the opportunity to engage in conversations on the conference theme and different stakeholders had the opportunity to interact, exchange experiences and make new contacts. During the different sessions, plenary and breakouts, the participants on site was given the opportunity to ask questions to the panels and speakers in a microphone that was circulating among the audience.
The dissemination of the result from the conference is important to achieve impact, before, during and after the conference. Therefore, the Presidency has continued to publicize the event after its completion. For instance, via the Presidency website as well as on LinkedIn. Moreover, all video recordings of on-stage content that was made during the conference was made available on the Presidency website. Both recordings that were livestreamed, as well content produced in the breakout room. Dissemination of these recordings were successful, given that several thousand viewings of the livestream had been recorded within a week of the event.

Leaving the program available online also promote future networking and sustained conversation among participants as they can revisit conference results over time. The website will be available for online visitors as long as the Presidency website is active.
