• To bring the citizens and patients into the discussions and try to approach the concept of personalised medicine to them, as key actors in the implementation of PM in the healthcare system.
the Conference will try to give a thought and first ideas or recommendations on priority research areas that need to be further financed in the following years, to ensure the PM has a real impact on the society, and that could be taken up into the following European Strategic Plans and work programs.
To structure the Conference, it will be divided into 3 main axes:
• AXE 1 : Prevention, diagnostics and treatment of diseases through a personalised approach.
• AXE 2 : Tools for Personalised Medicine: the role of federated transnational research infrastructures in the research of PM.
• AXE 3 : International cooperation as an element to promote the development of Personalised medicine.
The format of the conference will combine keynote speeches, round tables to foster discussion around topics of interest and short talks to showcase best practices and examples of EU projects. Online tools to facilitate interaction with the audience will be made accessible.
By providing a platform for discussing challenges and gaps in funding in the field of personalised medicine, the Spanish Presidency Conference aim to contribute to the following outcomes:
• Implementation of synergies and coherent funding approaches to ensure main challenges in the implementation of PM are properly addressed.
• Improvement of the uptake of results developed in the framework of European collaborative research.
