Objective
SITEBOT targets safer, faster and greener on-site building assembly by advancing autonomous robot collectives for timber-based construction. The project’s objectives are to (i) create a reconfigurable multi-robot platform (two climbing robots, a UAV and a mobile base) with standardized mechanical/electrical interfaces; (ii) develop AI-based perception, semantic mapping and resilient multi-robot coordination for unstructured sites; (iii) ensure certified, explainable control and ergonomic human–robot collaboration; and (iv) validate productivity, safety and quality gains on a lab-scale building demonstrator (≈5×5×2.5 m).
These objectives are achieved through an end-to-end pipeline linking computational design and a digital twin with execution. A “robot-ready” building model encodes components, tolerances and processes; tasks are planned and stress-tested in simulation; then executed and verified in the physical pilot with continuous sensing, self-diagnostics and quality assurance. Open, vendor-neutral interfaces allow rapid extension, while safety engineering, risk management and ethics-by-design guide all developments. Results include a modular hardware/software stack, public methods and datasets enabling reproducible research and training, and evidence of impact versus manual or single-robot baselines.
Relevance: SITEBOT directly supports the work programme by pushing the frontiers of robotics and AI for real-world construction, a sector critical for climate goals and European resilience. By enabling precise, low-waste assembly with lightweight timber systems, the project contributes to circularity and reduced embodied emissions. The consortium (leading universities/RTOs and an SME integrator) couples scientific excellence with clear pathways to uptake: stakeholder workshops, open science, and exploitation plans aligned with industrial needs. SITEBOT will de-risk future pilots and empower European SMEs to adopt multi-robot solutions beyond the project.

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
