Ziel
According to the NET Agreement, the tasks of the NET team are:
- to define the basic objectives of NET, outline its essential components and determine the research and development needs for its later construction;
- to be the focal point and to provide guidance for the current fusion effort, particularly for the technology programme;
- to provide the technical elements for a decision on launching the detailed engineering design phase;
- to strengthen the European capability for international cooperation on the Next Step;
- to act as a focal point for the European contribution to the ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) activity.
NEXT EUROPEAN TORUS (NET) History
NET was established in 1983 as the focus for European design studies of the machine to follow JET.
