CIREP creates a world-wide information system for component data, establishing a direct digital information flow between electronic component suppliers and users.
CIREP is a complete information system for the electronic exchange of standardized libraries of Component Information Representations (CIR). The system addresses all types of components, with a focus on electrotechnical components, and is based on the international standards IEC 61360 and ISO 13584. It facilitates the exchange of data between component manufacturers and users, enabling download of information in a usable form to designers of electronic products. In order to achieve the data handling requirements of manufacturers, brokers and end users, CIREP has extended the existing ISO 13584 standard by introducing the unique concept of the Class Data Item List (CDIL), which creates a "family" template for specifying data. A prototype system has been developed and is currently being tested.
