The virtual sound platform of the future

Project description

Revolutionary sound simulation technology with wave-based methods

Currently, simulating or predicting the sound generated by things like cars and infrastructure equipment or virtual spaces is highly complicated, and modern solutions require a lot of time to create excellent simulations. The EU-funded Treble project aims to revolutionise sound simulation technology, making it faster and more efficient. Specifically, it will develop simulation technology that uses wave-based methods instead of ray-tracing ones. The technology will be valuable for various industries and organisations that require access to reliable sound simulations. This breakthrough technology is expected to change the direction of modern sound simulation.

Objective

Today, it is challenging to simulate how products – cars, audio equipment, buildings, wind turbines, hearing aids, etc – will sound. The same limitation applies to simulating and rendering sound for virtual spaces, i.e. virtual reality, metaverse, video games and augmented reality.
We have developed a disruptive sound simulation technology based on an entirely new paradigm (“wave-based” methods versus traditional “ray tracing” methods). This technology opens a vast array of new opportunities in engineering design and metaverse applications.

We offer a ground-breaking cloud-based sound simulation software platform with a cutting-edge proprietary simulation technology at its core with two main capabilities:
• Sound simulation: Predict, design and optimise how products & buildings will sound.
• Sound rendering: Generate authentic sound in a virtual domain.
The technology is 100-1000x faster than current technologies, resulting in a complete paradigm shift in sound simulation.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

Net EU contribution

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
