Obiettivo
The increased resolution and sensitivity of the latest fluorescence microscopes, imaging equipment, and software, now makes it possible to follow specific proteins and processes in living bacterial cells. These developments have initiated a new and very successful discipline i.e. bacterial cell biology. Another recent and prolific technique that has become part of the molecular microbial toolbox is transcriptome analysis, in which DNA micro-arrays are used to measure genome-wide transcriptional regulation.
This programme aims at providing first-class multidisciplinary training in molecular microbiology with the emphasis on cell biology and transcriptome analysis. The training programme is focussed on outstanding young researchers from EU countries/regions in which the equipment and expertise to do state-of-the-art bacterial cell biology and transcriptome analyses are not readily available. The programme comprises several long-term fellowships (PhD training) as well as a number of short-term training courses.
