An infrastructure based on Internet technology has been developed to enable software reuse in large and geographically distributed organisations. The adoption of reuse as a usual practice of the developers will help to create or improve a Virtual Software Corporation through network based co-operation, by providing a large catalogue of tools and components to cover all the different needs of SW developers. Installation of a world wide web (WWW) server based on the EUROWARE tool-set satisfies security requirements and integrates with available tools, to support classification, storage and retrieval of reusable software modules (containing public domain software packages, proprietary assets, public documentation and free-ware tools. Digital networks represent a productivity tool which software development projects should be based on. The research also discovered that one issue still to be solved is the definition of a precise assessment procedures capable of determining a corporate-value of software components as well as precise mechanisms for intra-corporate software exchange. The experiment can be easily replicated, in fact the technology adopted could be adopted by any virtual corporation managing huge projects and any software company geographically distributed. The main achievement was the establishment of basic cultural, organizational and methodological infrastructure through: introduction of general concepts concerning software re-use; establishment of basic working practices; management of a paper-based information flows among various actors which are involved in software developments. It is evident that software reuse is becoming a working practice, substantially reducing software development time and cost through the reuse of existing assets
