Continuous improvement (CI) methodologies aim to maximize the efficiency of an enterprise by involving workers at all levels in the search for improvements to working practices (design, production, monitoring, management, etc.). The idea behind this approach is that by empowering workers on the shop floor, who view the business process from a different perspective, useful new ideas can be provided to ensure continuous improvement. The KISS project has produced two results. The first is a continuous improvement and total quality management methodology - the KISS methodology. The second is the KISS software tool, which supports this methodology. It aims to facilitate the learning and rapid absorption of CI methodologies, and to make its full scale implementation more cost-effective, both in large organisations and in SMEs. KISS will help introduce a high level of standardisation in the documentation and procedures of the CI approach, improving the quality of exchanged information and aiding transfer of results. In a typical business case, the tool will increase the efficiency and cost effectiveness of a Kaizen implementation by 30%. Also reduced by a similar percentage will be the time and costs of documenting the work done. A reduction of 25% should be seen in the time and costs related to communications between the various players involved in a CI activity. Project URL: http://www.txt.it/txtii-eng/sia/kiss.html
