Euro-Chinese Urban and Regional Bi-continental research Scheme

Final Report Summary - ECURBS (Euro-Chinese Urban and Regional Bi-continental research Scheme)

The European Union supports the ECURBS program. Its name mixes the EC letters for European Community and the Latin word URBS, which means city. It aims at boosting academic and scientific exchanges between several European Union countries and China about urban and regional matters, regarding both the analyses of territorial organisation and changes (involving the powerful urbanisation now taking place in China) and the development of adequate planning methodology and implementation.
Involved partners were:
• University of Paris Est Créteil (originally, at the time of the program start, University of Paris 12, France), coordinator of the ECURBS program,
• University of Utrecht (Netherlands),
• University of Manchester (United Kingdom),
• University of Nanjing (China).

During four years, it made possible a wide range of international activities:
• scientific workshops and conferences,
• research and planning cooperation,
• teaching cooperation,
• academic exchanges.
