Ziel
The goal of this project is to elucidate the role of interfacial rheology of particle-laden interfaces in the stability of Pickering emulsions, polymer blends and foams.
To this end, novel interfacial rheometrical methods will be used in combination with rheo-physical methods to evaluate the influence of interfacial rheology and underlying microstructure on the stability of particle stabilized emulsions, blends or foams.
Specifically, experiments on model systems will be used to establish a relation between the interfacial rheological properties and the stability of Pickering emulsions. The combination of the rheophysical expertise of the applicant, with a more engineering oriented approach in the host laboratory, should lead to a method for the rational de sign of such materials.
The postdoctoral stay will a expose the applicant to a wide range of engineering applications of rheology which lie in the field of expertise of the host laboratorium, in fields ranging from polymers over colloids to interfaces.
