Development of efficient recyclable nanosized multicatalyst systems for cascade reactions based on transition metal nanoparticles and dendritic ligands

Final Activity Report Summary - NANOSIZED CATALYSTS (Development of efficient recyclable nanosized multicatalyst systems for cascade reactions based on transition metal nanoparticles ...)

Three distinct series of ligands have been tested for their ability to stabilise ruthenium and palladium nanoparticles. These nanoparticles have been fully characterised using conventional analytical methods as well as using novel methodologies, such as quantification of the amount of hydrides present at the nanoparticle surface. Furthermore, an in depth study has been performed toward the ability of these nanoparticles to perform various types of catalysis that are normally only carried out by homogeneous catalysts.

The use of a combination of homogeneous catalysis and nanoparticle catalysis to perform cascade reactions led to the development of new bimetallic ruthenium-palladium nanoparticles that show activity for several reactions and are also able to perform cascade reactions.
