An Internet enabled toolkit has been developed, called NetProfit, for software engineering processes including defined outputs and documents of the software process. Built in quality audits in a workflow environment will ensure the compliance to the minimum requirement of standards. An example is the audit of test plans. The workflow keeps track of what audits should be made when, and lets the user send requests for audits automatically. The use of a standardized process and document templates will also let the customer know beforehand the deliverables, their quality guarantee and their appearance and structure. NetProfit as a tool is an independent way of improving productivity. The Intranet based technical solution provides an easy way of storing and retrieving re-useable components across sites. Documentation is searchable and accessible for re-use. Via the documentation, functions implemented in the code can also be searched. Further development will include a re-use library for software components and even further development component based software development. Key components of the solution are a browser based user interface, TCP/image processing (IP) based information integration, Microsoft Site Server and retrieval engine and networking enabled Internet based application suite called NetCommunity for inter/intra communication, bulletin board, knowledge base and news feed.
