Final Activity Report Summary - TIMPANI (Timescales of Igneous and Metamorphic Processes - Accessing new Information)
Project TIMPANI has been concerned with the development of a computer model for analysing compositional profiles within mineral grains. The model allows the timescales of high-temperature processes to be constrained within a variety of geological materials, including volcanic, metamorphic and meteorite samples.
This has great use for examining the timescales of processes occurring before volcanic eruptions; rates of processes in metamorphic settings or the timescales of assembly and destruction of meteorite parent bodies.
