Mathematics and Numerics of Infinite Quantum Systems

Final Report Summary - MNIQS (Mathematics and Numerics of Infinite Quantum Systems)

The aim of the ERC project MNIQS was to rigorously study large and infinite quantum systems, from a numerical and analytical point of view. This goal has been largely fulfilled. Among the obtained results are, for instance: a better understanding of relativistic quantum systems from quantum electrodynamics, a construction of a new model for crystals with random defects, a new method to prove the existence of Bose-Einstein condensation in cold gases, a new method to understand the excitation spectrum of trapped Bose gases, new inequalities for infinite quantum systems (of Lieb-Thirring and Strichartz type), and the description of the large-time dynamics of some mean-field infinite systems. In addition, the PI was awarded an EMS prize in 2012 for his works related to the MNIQS starting grant.
