New forms of sustainable urban transport and mobility

Ziel

Mobility for each citizen as well as the transport of goods must be ensured in combination with a free choice of transport modes. However, actions of mobility management should be strengthened to raise people’s awareness towards sustainable mobility.
Due to changing conditions (e. g demographic development, rising energy costs, new ecological standards) new quality standards for an attractive pedestrian, bicycle, and public transport infrastructure are on the urban agenda in many cities.
The four cities Stuttgart, Brno, Malaga and Tel Aviv-Yafo decided to create more sustainable, clean and energy-efficient urban transport systems in their cities to establish new forms of mobility in a common approach for the benefit of all citizens, society and climate policy, respecting the environment and natural resources.
The development and implementation of similar projects and initiatives in the four cities will allow evaluating and comparing the results and impacts in the different contexts in the leading and learning cities. In addition, the measures in the four cities have been selected in a way that allows transfer and applicability to small- and medium-sized towns.
Specific emphasis has been given to the measures of e-mobility, freight and ITS-based traffic management. Also the continuous reflection of the proposed projects with the SUMPs as well as with urban development plans is stressed.
