Data Supply Chains for Pools, Services and Analytics in Economics and Finance

Descrizione del progetto

SME initiative on Digital Content and Languages
DOPA implements Data Supply Chains for European Economic and Financial Data

DOPA will enable European SMEs to become key players in the global data economy, as the impacts of the DOPA RTD activities will likely materialize in both the supply and in the demand side of B2B vertical market segments of the data related services.DOPA has been designed to provide solutions to gaps observed in the EU environment, pointing out the need to develop and implement a source and exploitation platform for economic and financial information in Europe that would altogether:- Have the right scale, to leverage the wealth of information that is created and circulated in today's information economy especially on the Internet- Lower the technical and financial barrier to access and use, especially for SMEs and research groups with limited capacity- Reflect Europe's diversity (in terms of languages and countries but also in variety of industries, size etc.)To address these challenges, the DOPA consortium will focus on developing the first large scale and multi-vertical economic and financial data platform useful for all economic actors, regardless of their industry, size and country. It will also open new possibilities for researchers in this domain to design and conduct large-scale data intensive experiments.DOPA is by design an exemplary case of a market driven Research & Innovation endeavor. The proposed advance over the state of the art responds to identified market needs allowing worthwhile S&T driven efforts as well as motivating companies similar to the consortium to join the DOPA environment to buy, trade and integrate high quality data and value-added data services. On top of these traits, the effort to be devoted in advancing as much as possible on development and validation of business models to support effectively hitting the targeted markets is in itself an innovative way to secure sustainable impacts of the DOPA project.
