Obiettivo
§ Develop two models, the 'Heating Entrepreneur' and the 'Energy Service Company' whereby in both models a company sells heat to multiple rather than equipment and fuel. § Establishing at least one new ESCO & at least three new HE in each country and establish best practice for a wood fuel supply chain in UK, France and Finland § To identify a total of 150 potential sites for automatic biomass heating in the UK, France and Finland § Working with heating system installation companies and 'green' banks to help install and finance a minimum of 60 automatic biomass heating systems (20 in each country) under the 'Heat Entrepreneur' model for a wide variety of heating sites (e.g. schools, private buildings, industrial units, greenhouses). This will correspond to a minimum of 10MW of installed capacity. § Produce case studies with best practice for a selection of the installations and to include them in a booklet which will be used as a major promotional tool for local government including officers, politicians, planners, architects, heating engineers as well as individuals & companies expressing an interest in heating with wood.
Description:
Phase 1 Development of the 'Heat Entrepreneur' and 'ESCO' model for biomass heating. Review financing models for heating systems using both biomass and fossil fuels within Europe. Production of best practice case studies, review the current economics of wood heating, develop a 'Heat Entrepreneur' model and an 'ESCO' model, hold a workshop in Finland on Heat Entrepreneurship with a series of technical visits. Phase 2 Set up a high quality local wood fuel supply chain with banking/finance structure and best practice Phase 3 Design of biomass heating systems and financial models at potential heating sites. This includes the establishment of at least 9 new Heat Entrepreneurs and 3 ESCOs. The models will be tested by the installation of 60 biomass heating systems, corresponding to an installed capacity 10MW Phase 4: The production of Case Studies in UK, France and Finland, showing best practice which will be published in a book in English, French and Finnish Phase 5: Evaluation of the Heat Entrepreneur and ESCO Models with a summary of best practice Phase 6: Final Report and Dissemination
There are FOUR main direct outputs from this project:
1. The development of two models to finance biomass heating schemes, namely the 'Heat Entrepreneur' and ESCO model with a definition of best practice;
2. The establishment at least one new ESCO & at least three new Heat Entrepreneurs in each country and a wood fuel supply chain;
3. The testing of the two models on 60 biomass heating systems installed as a direct result of this project with an installed capacity of 10MW;
4. The production of a publication in English, French and Finnish detailing the two financial models and evaluating performance and best practice for these models through documenting a total of 15 case studies chosen from the biomass heating sites developed under this project. This will also be made available on the WEB through the ITEBE, British Biogen (UK trade association for biofuels) and BENET (The biomass Energy Network of Finland & Sweden) web sites and will be produced as a CD ROM for wide spread dissemination.
