Novel computational and informatics approaches for the <br/>quantitative studies of proteins

Final Activity and Management Report Summary - COMPROT (Novel computational and informatics approaches for the quantitative studies of proteins)

The key research goal for the last 12 months of the project was to further develop the MZmine software, which by now already became one of the most popular software package for mass spectrometry based metabolomics and proteomics. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive so far.

Further developments were focused largely on feedback we got from the users, which included better tools for peak detection and alignment, as well as innovative strategies for data normalisation based on use of multiple internal standards.

One of the key objectives of the project was the integration of the researchers into the European research environment. This objective has been reach with overwhelming success. As of now, the researcher leads a team for quantitative biology and bioinformatics, which includes 15 members (please see http://sysbio.vtt.fi/(si apre in una nuova finestra) online), and has been increasingly visible in the international research arena. Multiple invitations for talks at international conferences and rapidly increasing number of publications prove that.
