Obiettivo
The European Commission has proposed within its Mobility Strategy to create a European Network of mobility centres, whose primary task would be the provision of personal customized assistance to researchers and their families. This applies to outgoing and incoming researchers, as well as to researchers moving between academia and industry. The centres will provide information on legal, administrative and practical issues. Given the political competences of the different entities in Belgium, four bridgehead organisations (B.O.) have been designated. They will be networked among themselves and with other mobility centres in Belgium and Europe. The Belgian network will operate under the "MERCATOR" label. At present each B.O. has already designated a physical contact person. The four B.O.'s will develop together a national portal, which will be a single entry point to the Mercator network (www.eracareers-belgium.be). The daily management of this national portal will be done by the Federal B.O. but the three others B.O. are of course fully involved in the development and the implementation of the portal. Each B.O. will provide the information related to its own expertise and competencies, but also information about the Belgian network of mobility centers. Personalised information and guidance will be offered by the contact persons. They will also establish links to the mobility centres within their own regional/sectorial action radius. The final goal of the MERCATOR network is to streamline and integrate the existing sources and to establish real operational links among them. It will also be necessary to create access to new sources of information, in order to cover all the fields where tailored information for mobile researchers is not available at the moment.
