Boosting Innovation Management Capacity through EEN Services

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - INNOVEEN (Boosting Innovation Management Capacity through EEN Services)

Periodo di rendicontazione: 2014-05-01 al 2014-12-31

The general objective of the project is to increase the SMEs’ innovation and innovation management capacity to enhance the regional innovation ecosystem in which they exist.
There are two work packages in the INNOVEEN project. First workpackage is dealing with the key account management activities related to SME Instrument beneficiaries and the second workpackage is solely focused on enhancing the innovation management capacities of the SMEs in the region.
Services in each workpackage are implemented as 7-days service package scheme. In the proposal a total number of 39 service packages were estimated.
Before initiating the project, Sabanci University organized 2 local events to increase the awareness on SME Instrument call and the new services provided by the network under increasing the innovation management capacities of the SMEs.
WP1
During the execution period of the project, there was only one beneficiary of SME Instrument in Istanbul and the action described in the first workpackage was started after receiving the official letter sent by EASME both to the beneficiary and to Sabanci University. A meeting has been organized with the company at the beginning of their Phase-1 project to identify the needs in the innovation life cycle. After that, based on the findings of the first meeting, a suitable coach was identified and matched with the company. Sabanci University enhanced the dialogue between the coach and the company by organizing a meeting which is aimed for developing a coaching plan. A mutually agreed plan was developed and executed successfully both by the coach and the company.
WP2
Second workpackage of the INNOVEEN project started after receiving training from the IMProve academy in 13th and 14th of October. Following the training held in Istanbul, Sabanci University started to identify the suitable companies with an ambition and capacity to innovate and potential to grow by assessing a simple online questionnaire. A shortlist of such companies was prepared. Due to the time restriction IMProve process was scheduled only with 4 companies. The half-day assessment was carried out in the companies’ premises with 2 EEN experts. After the assessment, the results of the diagnosis (IMProve benchmark report) have been evaluated by the responsible expert for the company and a draft action plan has been developed. Unfortunately, within the time frame of the project, the draft action plans were not discussed with the companies in order to form mutually agreed action plan. Hence second workpackage has not been completed during the project and IMProve process has not been started with proposed number of companies.
WP1
Coaching plan has been successfully implemented by the coach and beneficiary during the project. As a result, IP management capacity of the company has been increased and the company is now being able to define a strategy for a better commercialization of the innovation project.
WP2
IMProve diagnosis has been made for 4 SMEs and a draft action plan from their benchmark report has been developed. This draft plans will be the basis of the final action plan that will help the company to increase its innovation management capacity.
