Training workshop 2

A dedicated residential training event will be held to deliver specialist training on sub-seabed CO2 storage, monitoring and decision support systems including best practice. The course content will span a range of topics from technical aspects to bigger-picture issues. These events will be open to all project participants also a wider industrial/regulatory/stakeholder audience, and will include invited specialists from industry and regulatory bodies to both participate in the training and/or deliver some of the training content.

A publication to provide an extended executive summary of the project’s objectives, achievements and scientific highlights. To be released at the end of project meeting.

Report on the efficacy of the decision support tool to provide improved decision support including review by expert users.

This report serves as the executive summary of the STEMM-CCS project. It will contain a publishable abstract and review the key achievements and results of the project

A synthesis report evaluating the cost effectiveness of all of the employed technologies and approaches.

Numerical analysis of CO2 release experiment

A report on numerical simulation of release experiment with coupled and nested model systems

Chemical response of Goldeneye sediments to CO2 injection determined by gas pulse tube experimentation

A report on experiments undertaken to determine the chemical response of Goldeneye sediments to seepage of CO2 under appropriate pressurised conditions.

Evaluation of CO2 monitoring tools and strategies

A report on the evaluation of the different monitoring tools and techniques utilised in the demonstration CO2 release experiment, for effective monitoring of sub-seafloor CCS storage sites.

Technology prototyping and testing

Report on the construction of prototype systems and testing prior to demonstration deployments. Sections include full details of testing of i) technologies for flux and leak quantification and ii) technologies for baseline data collection and decision support.

Report on International dissemination activities

A summary report detailing international engagement activities, benefits and future exploitation potential will be delivered at project completion. Annual summary documents will be prepared and circulated within the project steering committee for comment

Underpinning data for monitoring activities (including current statistics and carbon tracer experiments)

Report on algorithms for combining in-situ and model data to build spatial current statistics, demonstration of spatial variability in CO2 trail predictions, processes governing natural variations of seawater CO2-system variables and the accuracy of Cseep methodology.

Generic method for the application of remote sensing in guiding CCS baseline data acquisition

A generic methodology for using remote sensing to guide baseline characterisation and data collection will be developed and published.

A report on novel numerical model system with ability to quantify leakage from monitoring observations and evaluation of utility of leakage tracers.
