The Mobile 3D Modeling Proof of Concept project followed the goal to evaluate opportunities to bring parts of the 3D technology developed during the 4D Video ERC project. The researchers have developed technology that allows to turn any smartphone into a 3D scanner. This technological leap enables a large amount of new business opportunities that were not possible before. The goal of the proof of concept was to evaluate the market needs and consequently design and implement a prototype.
During the project market analysis has been conducted and a technological proof of concept prototype was implemented. The prototype was presented at numerous fairs and exhibitions and a first user study was conducted. A spin-off company that has exclusively licensed the technology was founded that will now continue the development towards market readiness.
