Zusammenfassung vom Kontext und den Gesamtzielen des Projekts

In this study the feasibility of the planned Telocate ASSIST project is elaborated to a deeper extent with focus on the aspects:
• Technological feasibility (variety of mobile phones, availability of mobile connection, coverage of receivers, dynamic environments)
• economical feasibility (customer profiling, strategies for market entry, pricing), and
• social feasibility (user acceptance, data privacy).
The aspects above are evaluated and analyzed using a variety of measures described in the following. From the results a reliable business plan is created.

Arbeit, die ab Beginn des Projekts bis zum Ende des durch den Bericht erfassten Berichtszeitraums geleistet wurde, und die wichtigsten bis dahin erzielten Ergebnisse

1) Reactivation of Telocate ASSIST demonstrator system: Goal is further evaluation of the technical feasibility. Installation with six receivers, instead of four. Experiments have been executed. A range increase from 10m to 20m could be achieved.

2) Discussion and allocation of personnel ressources for social study. Details:
For the social study, we have examined non-visual orientation and wayfinding in a closed complex space. This is a reqirement we deemed necessary for the interaction of blind people. For the study, a demonstrator in the form of a virtual environment has been developed, in which a person must orientate and navigate. The results are being made available in the form of scientific publication providing information about the needs of blind people.

about 2): The aim of the social study simulation is to better understand how sighted and non-sighted persons orientate in an area they can not see, and how to lead non-sighted persons in a room, having a precise location system. Even for sighted persons, the experiment contributes to navigation, where they do not have to constantly to look at a smartphone screen.
