Integrated Cicuit Testing Software

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - TEST-IC (Integrated Cicuit Testing Software)

Período documentado: 2015-07-01 hasta 2015-12-31

MINT (NplusT internal codificatiin for the TEST-IC related product) is about a software product that provides a breakthrough solution for a critical issue in the semiconductor industry. In the field of semiconductor, testing is required in order to screen out devices with evident and potential failures. As the efficiency of testing strongly depends upon the quality of the test programs, the project is aimed at supporting the development and validation of these test programs. Using it, semiconductor manufacturers will reduce their test development costs by 20-25%, shorten their time-to-market, and, which is the most important selling point, improve the outgoing quality of their products.

The objective of the action was to develop a feasibility study, including an exhaustive market study, a business plan integrated with economic and financial forecast data, as well as with in-depth analysis and organisational plans.
The work performed during the reported period is divided into three phases:
Task 1 – Marketing/Technical/industrial feasibility Study
Task 2 – Regulatory feasibility Study
Task 3 – Economic/financial and commercial feasibility plan and business plan
The results includes marketing approach, economic and financial forecast data and in-depth analysis and organisational plans. All relevant data, including technical/industrial analysis, regulatory analysis and economic/financial and commercial data, are detailed. A roadmap is enclosed, containing capital sources, financial sources, expected Break-even point and recommended market approach.
Three sales scenario are considered: weak, base and strong.

From a company strategy standpoint, the validity of the project can be supported by the following statements results of the feasibility study.
The project
- will generate significant profit over the five years covered by our analysis and is supposed to be greater than that obtained from the traditional business.
- has a rather good return-on-investment.
- is perfectly in line with the main business strategies of NplusT, as it supports the product development/new product introduction process in the semiconductor industry.
- exploits the core competence of NplusT in the fields of semiconductor testing and software development.
- is a key driver for customer diversification: the customer base is expected to significantly increase.
- will help NplusT enter a new geographic area, the United States, and could also boost the sales of its existing products.
The final result of the project will be the reduction of the test development costs by 20-25%, shorten time-to-market, and improve the outgoing quality of their products.
The impact in economic terms are very high, and the foreseeable use is transversal to all the semiconductor industry, representing an important saving that can be relocated in other area, like R&D, marketing and so on.
