Anti-reflection coatings from solution-processable, high-refractive index inorganic/organic hybrid materials

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - COAT (Anti-reflection coatings from solution-processable, high-refractive index inorganic/organic hybrid materials)

Berichtszeitraum: 2015-12-01 bis 2017-05-31

COAT activities focused on developing a new generation of anti-reflection (AR) coatings based on the inorganic/organic hybrid materials advanced in the ERC project OASIS (Project No: 279587). COAT thereby provided the necessary manpower for screening new formulations, and gaining knowledge and the understanding of a new class materials that allowed to produce demonstrators and illustrative prototypes to persuade major partner of the validity of the proposed technology approach for future commercialisation.Specific knowledge that was gained include recipes towards heat mirrors (mirrors that are transparent for the human eye, but reflect the heat-producing near-infrared/infrared irradiation), waveguides, anti-reflection coatings, and novel 2D-photonic crystal that allow further manipulation of the flow of light. Strong links with industries could be formed. In addition, COAT provided a platform to outreach to a broader audience, e.g. via participation at the Economic Forum in Davos, via Tech fares at conference (e.g. at Nanotexolog/ISOFE in July 2017, Thessaloniki) as well as through radio interviews, outreach events to present the life of female scientists to non-scientists audience. In addition, various academic conferences have been organised to forward the field and stimulate new research and technology directions.
