Objectif

By injecting coal/water sludge into the blast furnace, it should be possible to achieve high productivity and uniform blast-furnace working. The coal/water mixtures will be made in a 15 t/h plant which is to be commissioned at the beginning of 1986. It is intended to determine the influence of hydrogen and the coke replacement ratio. In addition, productivity, regularity of the blast-furnace operation, fuel consumption and pig-iron quality are to be ascertained. The studies will be carried out in ITALSIDER's No 3 blast furnace in Taranto.
