Steel fibre-reinforced concrete panels

Obiettivo

A wide range of important applications has already been found for fibre-reinforced concrete. Nevertheless, the material has been used chiefly in the construction of road pavings (and, more precisely, airport runways), spray cement mortars (coverings for galleries and the stabilization of rocky slopes) and in the field of refractories (chromium- molybdenum steel fibres). Applications are also mentioned in the field of industrial pavements, prefabricated three- dimensional box sections, reinforced-concrete tubes, explosion-resistant structures, nuclear power stations and shipbuilding. The object is to define more precisely the general parameters of the problem from the technological and structural standpoint and to develop specific applications for this new type of reinforced concrete, namely steel fibre-reinforced concrete. The aim of this research is to: - take stock of the current situation of steel fibre-reinforced concrete and examine the prospects of using it in the short or medium term in the production of panels for outer walls; - define the typological, technological and structural aspects of the material and verify them experimentally on representative samples of prefabricated panels for the civil building industry (including wall panels with window openings).
