Obiettivo
To prevent access to sharp points or shearing equipment by means of physical or other barriers, without hampering production and maintenance or repair work.
First of all, we have analysed and developed the installation of security strings on the roof and in the building in order to ensure a maximum of security for those people who work on the building.
Different studies and equipments gave us the opportunity to improve the security on different working places, especially on those places where the cutting and rolling is done. These have for instance been realised with specialised material protection, with new automatic security systems (magnetic fields of the brand 'proxagor') or also with specialised cabins which show a lot of advantages: the ergonomics of the position, safe distance from dangerous zones, improved visibility and decrease of noise.
The modification or automatisation of the tools have reduced or completely eliminated manual interventions; therefore, certain risks of accidents don't exist anymore.
Futhermore, two important studies have given the opportunity to realise an even more important security:
1 - An automatic security system by water curtain on the stock NH3: as no system existed on the market, a prototype was made on a small scale. The result being successful, it was realised with the real dimensions and then tested.
It is totally automatic system with a remote control which enables to visualise the stock on real time basis.
2 - Protection of the rolling staff on the rolling process: for many years the problem of the protection of the rollers has been discussed, but no solution was apparent. Many working groups or meetings have finally developed a prototype, which was improved during several months before being introduced into the working process of the train.
On each line, i.e. continuous annealing, slitting or cutting to length, there are:
a) several sharp points which it must be possible to protect by either:
- mobile guards linked to shut-down devices, or
- fixed guards which must be removed to gain access to the machinery;
as well as:
b) a total of 77 sets of shears which must be protected differently depending on how they are installed.
A further aim is to improve working conditions by reducing manual handling through the introduction of:
- new machines, i.e. LC.12;
destacker for feeding polishing machines;
automatic coil packing;
automatic transfer truck;
and
- automatic handling of product being put into stock or loaded on lorries for dispatch.
