The work performed from the beginning of the project was distributed in 7 work packages :
- WP1 Consortium management :
Management of the partners, organisation of the technical meeting, periodic reportings, milestones and deliverables redaction
- WP2 Requirement, plans, exploitation and dissemination :
Build and update the website of the project,
to establish and update the longterm technology roadmap,
to establish the specification of the two artworks and to plan of the validation of the different part of the converter.
This workpackage include also all the work to demonstrate how GaNOMIC innovation allows to reduce drastically the costs at PPU level.
- WP3 Power converter design and validation :
The activities in this work package was, through an iterative process to master the Dual Active Bridge converter : to study, simulate, design, fabricate, test and correlate with simulation and optimize.
These steps were performed for each major part of the converter primary and secondary bridge, and transformer.
6 steps of optimization were performed for the converter, including 3 runs of transformer.
This WP3 includes also tests on reliability of GaN components : 1000 hours of switching at high temperature were performed without any failure.
- WP4 Digital command and integration :
The work performed was first design the processing architecture, then develop and tests the algorithms in HiL and finally with the converter developed in WP3.
- WP5 3D embedded structure and packaging
Work performed in this workpackage was dedicated on embedding components and packaging through 4 majors tasks : To develop and improve the Sintering Lamination process necessary for the transformer designing, to develop and test the embedding of pre-packaged components, to design, fabricate and test the embedding of bare dies, and to design, fabricate and test a ‘power module demonstrator’.
- WP6 Coupling tests
This workpackage performed a coupling tests of the Anode Module Converter designed in GaNOMIC with a EP Thruster (PPS-DualMode developed in H2020-CHEOPS project).
All major operating points were reached and exceeded, so all objectives of this coupling phase were reached.
