Re-designing the value and supply chain of water and minerals: a circular economy approach for the recovery of resources from saline impaired effluent (brine) generated by process industries

Deliverables

Report on the results from the simulations using PHREEQC

This deliverable includes the results from Sub-Task 2.1.1. Presentation of the PHREEQC model simulation results of the chemical processes that will take place in the selected process units. PHREEQC is a computer program designed to carry out a wide variety of aqueous chemical reactions. The simulation results will be used to fine-tune the process flow diagrams.

Communication Strategy (including stakeholder analysis

Communication Strategy (including stakeholder analysis) – update at least yearly (M3 – M12 – M24 – M36). This deliverable will include the results of Task 10.1, where the communication strategy will be developed. This is an internal document that will serve to give Communication Guidelines to involve the consortium partners in optimizing their outreach potential within their respective networks. This will be measured in the engagement of the ZERO BRINE ‘ambassadors’ assigned by each partner to coordinate the communication activities of the project; and by the numbers of members of the LinkedIn group as well as an annual impact report by Revolve including figures from website traffic and media coverage of the field visits to pilot projects and final conference.

Report on physicochemical analyses on the wastewater compositions

This deliverable includes the results from Sub-Task 2.1.1. and 2.1.2. Presentation and discussion of the physicochemical lab analysis of the concentrate streams of EVIDES water treatment plants I and II. Sample collection and analysis will be carried out by the water lab of TUDelft and the period will cover a long enough period to account for seasonal variations.

Regeneration and performance of reverse osmosis membranes from desalination plants

This deliverable will include results from task 4.1.4. Optimization of the optimal regeneration conditions to obtain a tailor-made membrane specific for the treatment of IQE wastewater.

Characterization of wastewater produced in the production process of precipitated silica

This deliverable will include results from sub-task 4.1.1, where the wastewater from the end-user (IQE) will be monitored

Report on systems tools for analysis, feedback and interface

This deliverable will include the results from sub-task 6.1.2

Semantic web service platform

This deliverable will include the results from sub-task 6.1.3

Official Website

The ZERO BRINE website will use a multi-page parallax format to optimize the user experience with quality visuals and navigation tools. Google Analytics will be embedded to track traffic from around Europe and beyond. Revolve will compile the data and present the results during the impact reporting at the end of every year. Revolve expects to reach all European countries and to attract interest from the USA, China, India and the Middle East. The website will also include photo galleries from and videos, adding to the visual experience of the ZERO BRINE project.

Semantic web service portal

This deliverable comprises the web-service portal that will be developed in the framework of Task 6.1

Software tools for the simulation of selected brine treatment technologies (technology libraries and integrated platform)

Software tools for the simulation of selected brine treatment technologies (technology libraries and integrated platform) (M16). This deliverable comprises the software tools that will be developed in the framework of Task 5.3
