Report on the results from the simulations using PHREEQC

This deliverable includes the results from Sub-Task 2.1.1. Presentation of the PHREEQC model simulation results of the chemical processes that will take place in the selected process units. PHREEQC is a computer program designed to carry out a wide variety of aqueous chemical reactions. The simulation results will be used to fine-tune the process flow diagrams.

Policy Brief and Reports: advancing the ZERO BRINE process and demo projects

This deliverable will include 4 media kits including folders with factsheetsinfographicsinterviewsphotos plus 4 short promo videos and photo essays both postproduction will be created for journalistic and educational use 1 core policy brief on how desalination works and the added value of the ZERO BRINE process will be distributed both in print 5000 copies and digitally via the respectively communication channels

This report will include a mapping of relevant legislation as well as recommendation for the update of relevant BREFs

Communication Strategy (including stakeholder analysis

Communication Strategy including stakeholder analysis update at least yearly M3 M12 M24 M36 This deliverable will include the results of Task 101 where the communication strategy will be developed This is an internal document that will serve to give Communication Guidelines to involve the consortium partners in optimizing their outreach potential within their respective networks This will be measured in the engagement of the ZERO BRINE ambassadors assigned by each partner to coordinate the communication activities of the project and by the numbers of members of the LinkedIn group as well as an annual impact report by Revolve including figures from website traffic and media coverage of the field visits to pilot projects and final conference

Innovative technologies for recovering compounds in the precipitated silica industry

This deliverable will include results from task 4.1. Results from the bench-scale experiments focused on the evaluation of different technologies: EDBP for NaOH and H2SO4 recovery; NF for waste stream concentration followed by EFC or Evaporation.

This report will include the results of subtask 1061 There are 4 field visits envisioned i EVIDES sites in the Botlek area Netherlands ii Coal mine drainage treatment Poland iii IQE chemical site Spain iv ZORLU textile site Turkey Each field visit will comprise 610 local journalists and representatives from European outlets such as EurActiv EUObserver Guardian Horizon Magazine Europes World and others to be determined with consortium partners

This deliverable will include the results of subtask 823 where 5 replication case studies will be examined

Report on physicochemical analyses on the wastewater compositions

This deliverable includes the results from Sub-Task 2.1.1. and 2.1.2. Presentation and discussion of the physicochemical lab analysis of the concentrate streams of EVIDES water treatment plants I and II. Sample collection and analysis will be carried out by the water lab of TUDelft and the period will cover a long enough period to account for seasonal variations.

This deliverable will include the results from 6.1.1

Report on the bench-scale tests using equipment from the BEC

This deliverable includes the results from Task 2.1.1 and 2.1.2. Presentation of the results of the bench scale tests based on equipment of the Brine Excellence Centre, i.e. units for membrane filtration, membrane crystallization, evaporation, ion-exchange, freeze crystallization. The results will be used to determine relevant process parameters and to optimize conditions related to the presence of silica in the RO concentrate, with the ultimate purpose to fine-tune the process flow diagrams and finalize the selection of components for the demo plant.

The evaluation of the case studies includes technical economic and environmental aspects This report includes the technical aspects of the evaluation of the three case studies

Regeneration and performance of reverse osmosis membranes from desalination plants

This deliverable will include results from task 4.1.4. Optimization of the optimal regeneration conditions to obtain a tailor-made membrane specific for the treatment of IQE wastewater.

Characterization of wastewater produced in the production process of precipitated silica

This deliverable will include results from sub-task 4.1.1, where the wastewater from the end-user (IQE) will be monitored

This report will include the results of subtask 922 where the environmental impacts associated with brine discharge will be assessed

This report will include the results from Task 102 where 3 stakeholder consultation events will be realized

This deliverable will include the results of Task 81 laying down a circular economy business model for the large scale demonstration in EVIDES plant in Rotterdam Port

This report is a complement to report 7.2 where technical aspects are taken up. This report includes the environmental (life-cycle assessment) and economic (life-cycle costs) aspects for the three demonstrations.

The results obtained from running of the pilot system input and output characteristics including energy chemicals etc modification attempts to optimize efficiency both qualitative and quantity manner overall assessment of the system relevant appraisals with state of the art and other approaches as well as recommendations for further activities are intended to be summarized

Report containing the Feasibility Studies for fullscale implementation of the proposed ZERO BRINE systems at the case studies examined 3 Feasibility studies in total M47 Based on the evaluation of the demonstration activities a feasibility study for fullscale implementation for each case will be performed This report includes the results of the feasibility studies

This deliverable includes the results from Task 23 Description of the startup and actual operation and optimization of the two demo plants and compilation of the operating and maintenance manual including drawings and detailed instructions

Report on selection of demonstrated technologies and possible verification

The report will describe the criteria and the result of the selection of technologies for Environmental Technology Verification The Verification as such is not included as this is documented well through the ETV process itself

Report on the operation and optimization of the pilot system for the treatment of coal mine water

The final report from the operation of the pilot plant will include: □ the records of the plant performance (current density used in electrodialysis, pressure drop and permeate flux of pressure-driven units, composition of process streams during plant operation, unexpected downtimes and malfunctions); □ the records of the performance of the UNIPA-developed crystallizer; □ calculated energy consumption and chemicals consumption, to be used in WP7, subtask 7.1.4

This deliverable will include the results from sub-task 6.1.3

Official Website

The ZERO BRINE website will use a multi-page parallax format to optimize the user experience with quality visuals and navigation tools. Google Analytics will be embedded to track traffic from around Europe and beyond. Revolve will compile the data and present the results during the impact reporting at the end of every year. Revolve expects to reach all European countries and to attract interest from the USA, China, India and the Middle East. The website will also include photo galleries from and videos, adding to the visual experience of the ZERO BRINE project.
