Periodic Reporting for period 1 - TheraPanacea (Fast, Digital Adaptive Personalized Radiotherapy)

TheraPanacea grant was uses as basis to develop a fully automatic solution for contouring of organs at risk in the context of radiation therapy that is the predominant treatment solution in the context of cancer. Automatic delineation of organ at risks is a tedious, time consuming and critical step in treatment delivery with significant impact on treatment outcomes and in particular side effects as well as life long sequels. In the context of this grant we develop a unique combination of decisional and data-driven artificial intelligence solution that learns from examples towards reproducing optimal organs delineation. This offers standardization of treatment, automatic assessment of quality for treatment planning, equal access to treatment for patients (independently to the treatment facility) and significant decreases of healthcare facilities and healthcare system costs. The outcome of this grant is a CE-marked clinical solution that combines the latest advances in the fields of artificial intelligence, cloud computing and web based solutions towards improving treatment efficiency and smashing treatment costs for patients diagnosed with cancer while improving equal access to treatment within the EU territory.
