AEGIS is having a significant impact on creating a common ground for EU-US collaboration in cybersecurity, which goes beyond the project lifecycle. The impact-driven dissemination strategy put in place since the beginning of the project has contributed to raise awareness, promote understanding and generate engagement with the target groups throughout the project lifecycle and thus to achieve a wide impact of AEGIS.
• AEGIS has identified critical R&I priorities of high common interest for EU-US cooperation in cybersecurity and privacy. Three research action areas for EU-US collaboration require a cross-organisational and international approach to addressing cybersecurity and privacy: finance, healthcare and maritime sectors.
• Strengthening to the maximum extent possible the innovation dimension of international cooperation is at the core of the AEGIS project. To this purpose AEGIS advantages include Guidelines for Innovation Partnership in Cybersecurity and Privacy for EU-US collaboration which are based on selected case studies engaging private sector industry, researchers, innovators and stakeholders from Europe and the US.
• Increased the international visibility of EU and US activities in cybersecurity. The AEGIS strategy has been to maximise project impact through multiple channels and capitalising on the partners’ network multipliers to a refined and enriched segmentation of target groups to promote cybersecurity and privacy transatlantically.
• Identified potential European and international common approaches in addressing cybersecurity challenges from an R&I as well as governance and institutional perspectives. AEGIS has embraced a multi-stakeholder approach to great advantage thereby supporting and indeed accelerating EU-US dialogues and expanding cooperation around cybersecurity, and privacy research and innovation.
• Established privileged relationships with relevant organizations and key stakeholders across Europe and the US, which represent invaluable assets to support EU-US dialogues and cooperation in cybersecurity. The project’s multiple events, round tables, workshops, meetings, conferences, and professional connections have been of the utmost importance to first build and then solidify these connections and to further amplify the impact of AEGIS. Moreover, we have recruited and deeply motivated policy makers, researchers and industry leaders attending the project’s events to serve as project “ambassadors”, and even “champions” as well as spokespeople to spread awareness about AEGIS in their respective political, research and business communities.
