Synthesis report of WP4.
Geomelt technology (opens in new window)Report on Geomelt technology and demonstration test trials.
Memorandum outlining the output of task 3.1 (opens in new window)This report will show the waste streams chosen for demonstration and the technology platform on which the processing of each waste stream will be demonstrated. The justification for the use of particular platforms for selected waste streams will be outlined.
Report compiling the identification work of WAC (subtask 4.1.1, M4.1) and the requirements in terms of characterisation (subtask 4.1.2) (opens in new window)Report is compiling the identification work of WAC (subtask 4.1.1, M4.1) and the requirements in terms of characterisation (subtask 4.1.2). This report is a common document in which each participating country will provide some input.
Synthesis report of project (opens in new window)Collate the final outputs from WP2, WP3 and WP4 into an overall synthesis report for a technical readership, and a shorter summary report for a wider readership. The Synthesis report will seek to achieve the following: Ø Act as an entry point for understanding the content and nature of other project deliverables. Ø Enable mutual sharing of experience in the management of specific waste types across EU countries through recognition of common wastes and common challenges. Ø Summarise key strengths and weaknesses of different thermal treatment routes and their appropriateness and feasibility for specific waste streams. Ø Set out understanding of the characteristics and properties of thermally treated wasteforms and their viability for geological disposal, and implications for the safety case. Ø Establish preferred routes and potential mutual sharing of thermal treatment facilities to open management routes and opportunities for waste management across Europe, including identification of uncertainties, further required R&D, and next steps.
Test report covering all demonstrations including a description of the process, the waste treated and the operational process parameters such as process evolution versus time, power input and temperature of melt (opens in new window)Test/trial observation report covering all demonstrations including a description of the process, the waste treated and the operational process parameters such as process evolution versus time, power input and temperature of melt. A material balance across the process will be calculated and conclusions of the process operation will be drawn to include a performances assessment based on various criteria such as quality of the containment matrix, secondary waste production and organics destruction. The following demonstrations and observations from the trials will be summarised in the report (delivered in month 25); · SHIVA (CEA/AREVA) · In Can Melting (CEA/AREVA) · Thermal Gasification (VTT) · GeoMelt (NNL) · Hot Isostatic Pressing (NNL) · Active Hot Isostatic Pressing (USFD) · VICHR (VUJE) D3.2 will include a results and observations of the test trials carried out across the 6 treatment routes. Analysis will be coered in WP4 (D4.4). WP5 will include a summary and synthesis of lessons learned.
Value Assessment report (Year 3) – based on inputs from WP2, WP3 and WP4 (opens in new window)Report is based on inputs from WP2, WP3 and WP4. It includes review of potential benefits and disadvantages of selected waste stream / thermal treatment technology combinations in different EU countries (considers all information available at the end of the project)
Report compiling the definition and adaptation of characterisation tests (subtask 4.2.1) and the public data coming from existing or new characterisation tests from subtasks 4.2.2, 4.2.3 and 4.2.4 (opens in new window)This report is compiling the definition and adaptation of characterisation tests (subtask 4.2.1) and the public data coming from existing or new characterisation tests from subtasks 4.2.2, 4.2.3 and 4.2.4. This report will be based on previous milestones and each participating country will provide input.
Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) technology (opens in new window)Report on Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) technology and demonstration tests.
Gasification based waste treatment (opens in new window)Description of gasification based radwaste treatment technology and demonstration test trials carried out in the THERAMIN project.
Summary report of project (opens in new window)Summary report of project.
VICHR technology (opens in new window)Report on VICHR technology and demonstration tests.
Conference Proceedings (opens in new window)To coordinate a development of a project scientific conference with the project co-ordinator, WP leaders and End User group, and prepare and edit proceedings for electronic publication.
Report on the safety case implication study (opens in new window)Report on the safety case implication study. (task 4.3) This report is a common document in which each participating country will provide input.
SHIVA and In Can melting technologies and demonstration test trials (opens in new window)Report on SHIVA and In Can melting technologies and demonstrations.
Public Web site of the project
Technical Training Workshop (opens in new window)To organise a technical training school on thermal treatment methods and product disposability to improve knowledge and capability of young scientists and non-specialists.
